Why your Okotoks bill is higher than your usage

Two things make up your bill. The energy charge is the part a plan changes. Delivery, fixed daily charges, riders and the local fee come with the address, so every home in Okotoks pays them, whatever it uses.

A small home: 250 kWh of electricity a month

Of about $104 a month, $40 is the energy charge you can change by choosing a plan and $64 is what every home in Okotoks pays.

  • You can change this by choosing a plan
  • Every home in Okotoks pays this

For a small home, most of the bill is charges every home pays. Switching plans changes only the $40 energy part.

A typical home: 600 kWh of electricity a month

Of about $183 a month, $84 is the energy charge you can change by choosing a plan and $99 is what every home in Okotoks pays.

  • You can change this by choosing a plan
  • Every home in Okotoks pays this

These are estimates for one average month, including 5% GST. The energy part uses the default rate and the default supplier’s daily charge; a plan will price it differently. Your own bill will differ with how much you use.
