Your privacy.
This notice explains what BillRobin collects, why, who helps us, how long we keep it, and your choices.
BillRobin is a service of 2542038 Alberta Ltd., Suite 349, 9218 Ellerslie Road SW, Edmonton AB T6X 0K6. Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act applies.
What we collect.
- When you check your bills: your email address, the postal code and address of your home, the bills you send (they show your name, address, account and site numbers, how much energy you use and what you pay), the facts we read from them, your result and the choices you make.
- When you join our list: your email address, your province, the first three characters of your postal code if you gave it, the page you came from, and the words of the box you ticked.
- If you asked us to call you before 12 October 2026: your first name, phone number, the best time to call and your note. We no longer take call requests, and we delete the ones we hold within 90 days of the request.
- When you visit the website: our host handles technical details such as your IP address. We count page visits on our own site without cookies or personal details. When you start a bill check or join our list, cookies on our own site remember how you arrived (which of our links or ads brought you, or that you came straight to the site) for up to 30 days, and we keep that with your bill check or sign-up. If we are testing two versions of a page, a cookie remembers which one you saw, for up to 90 days. Only if you say yes to site measurement, PostHog records page views and basic device details.
Why we use it.
- To read your bills, compare the plans at your home, show you the result, and sometimes have a person at BillRobin check it.
- To email you about your bill check and to answer you when you contact us.
- To keep your bills and result so you can look again or ask for a new check.
- To keep records the law requires, keep the service safe, and fix our mistakes.
- Only if you say yes in a separate box: to email you BillRobin news and offers.
Who helps us
These companies help us run BillRobin. They may use your information only to do this work for us.

Your bills, account and results are stored in Canada. Some of these companies work outside Canada, mostly in the United States, and information handled there may be subject to the laws of that country, including lawful access by its government.
To get our written policies on companies outside Canada, or to ask about them, contact our Privacy Officer.
We never sell your information.
We share it only with the companies above, when the law requires it, or when you ask us to. No energy retailer sees your information unless you ask us to share it.
How long we keep it.
- Bills and results: 24 months after your last visit.
- An account that signed in but never started a bill check: 30 days.
- Once we hold Alberta energy marketer licences: records of licensed work for at least 3 years, as the law requires.
- Payment records, when payments start: 6 years, as tax law requires.
- A record of what you agreed to and of any request to stop emails: 3 years after our last email to you.
- If you ask us to delete your information, we keep only a coded copy of your email address so we never email you by mistake.
- Paper bills you mailed to us before 12 October 2026: shredded within 7 days after we scanned them. We no longer take bills by mail.
- Our list: until you leave it, or after 12 months without activity.
Your choices.
- See what we hold about you, or get a copy. We answer within 45 days.
- Correct something we have wrong.
- Stop news and offers with the link in any email, or reply STOP. It takes effect within 1 business day.
- Take back your agreement, or ask us to delete your information. We confirm within 10 business days and tell you about anything the law requires us to keep.
- Someone you trust can do these for you, such as your attorney under a power of attorney or a person you name in writing.

How we protect it.
Bills are stored in Canada in a private database. Only trained reviewers who sign in with two steps can see them, and every view is recorded. A computer service reads one bill page at a time for us.
If a breach puts you at real risk of significant harm, we report it to Alberta's Information and Privacy Commissioner and tell you.
