Why your Beaumont bill is higher than your usage
Two things make up your bill. The energy charge is the part a plan changes. Delivery, fixed daily charges, riders and the local fee come with the address, so every home in Beaumont pays them, whatever it uses.
A small home: 250 kWh of electricity and 3 GJ of natural gas a month
Of about $214 a month, $50 is the energy charge you can change by choosing a plan and $164 is what every home in Beaumont pays.
For a small home, most of the bill is charges every home pays. Switching plans changes only the $50 energy part.
A typical home: 600 kWh of electricity and 9 GJ of natural gas a month
Of about $334 a month, $104 is the energy charge you can change by choosing a plan and $230 is what every home in Beaumont pays.
These are estimates for one average month, including 5% GST. The energy part uses the default rate and the default supplier’s daily charge; a plan will price it differently. Your own bill will differ with how much you use.
