The short answer
Lethbridge bills garbage by the size of the cart. The city’s own prices show a lower yearly cost for the smaller cart.
The cheaper size
- Reduced (240 L) instead of Standard (360 L): $21.90 a year less for Reduced (240 L) than for Standard (360 L). The city quotes $0.362 a day and $0.422 a day. Black cart charge only. Other waste fees are separate. (read 12 October 2026) [source]
Price period: The city pages say 2026 rates and give no start date.
Read 12 October 2026.
This is a saving on a city service. It is separate from any saving on your electricity or gas.
These prices compare the sizes. They do not mean your home has the larger cart now, or that a smaller cart would be enough for your home.
Changing the cart costs what the city says
The yearly saving above does not include any one-time fee to change a cart.
The city charges a $100.00 Cart Change Administration fee to switch cart size.
Who can ask
The city decides who can change a cart and when. The $100.00 fee is more than a year of the price difference.
How to ask the city
You ask the city, not BillRobin. BillRobin does not arrange the change.
